Oct. 1959   The petrochemical sector of Maruzen Oil Co., Ltd., was separated as an independent unit and established with a capital investment of 2.5 billion yen (100% share) by the company.
  

Feb. 1964   Capital investments were received from Ube Industries, Ltd., Chisso Corporation, Denki Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha), Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd., and Nippon Soda Co., Ltd.
  

Mar. 1964   Completion of No.1 ethylene production equipment
  

Jan. 1966   Completion of No.2 ethylene production equipment, completion of No.1 aromatic extraction equipment
  

Mar. 1969   Completion of No.3 ethylene production equipment, completion of No.2 aromatic extraction equipment
  

Aug. 1969   Establishment of Chiba Butadiene Industry Co., Ltd., as a joint venture for the production and sale of butadiene
  

April 1981   Establishment of Nissan Maruzen Polyethylene Co., Ltd., as a joint venture for the production and sale of high-density polyethylene (name changed to Maruzen Polymer Co., Ltd., in January 1991)
  

Mar. 1982   Completion of petroleum resin production equipment
  

Sept. 1982   Petrochemical business, including alcohol ketone production equipment, taken over from Maruzen Oil Co., Ltd.
  

July 1983   Completion of water-soluble solvent production equipment
  

Dec. 1984   Goi Chemical Co. Ltd., stock acquired from Maruzen Oil Co., Ltd.
  

Oct. 1985   Establishment of Nisso Maruzen Chemical Co., Ltd., as a joint venture for the production and sale of ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol and other products
  

July 1986   Completion of polyparavinyl phenol resin production equipment
New York representative office reorganized as Maruzen America, Inc. established through 100% capital investment
  

Sept. 1987   Completion of multi hydrogenation equipment
  

Mar. 1989   Completion of benzene production equipment
  

Dec. 1990   Announcement of the corporate brand "Chemiway"
  

Mar. 1991   Completion of No.2 multi hydrogenation system
  

Sept. 1991   Establishment of Keiyo Ethylene Co., Ltd., for the production and sale of ethylene, propylene and other products (joint venture between the company, Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. and Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. in December 1995)
  

June 1993   Establishment of Keiyo Monomer Co., Ltd., as a joint venture for the production and sale of Vinyl chloride monomers
  

Dec. 1997   Acquisition of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9002 certification
  

July 1998   Completion of equipment for the production of vinyl ethers
  

May 1999   Completion of hydrofluoroethane production equipment

Dec. 1999   Nisso Petrochemical Industries Co., Ltd. (currently Maruzen Chemical Co., Ltd.) stock acquired from Nippon Soda Co., Ltd., and Teijin Limited
  

Nov. 2001   Acquisition of certification for 4-year continuous operation of No.3 ethylene production unit
  

Dec. 2003   Upgrade to 2000 version of ISO 9001
  

Oct. 2004   Establishment of Ube Maruzen Polyethylene Co, Ltd., as a joint venture for the production and sale of low density polyethylene
  

April. 2005   Merger of Maruzen Chemical Co, Ltd. and Maruzen Polymer Co, Ltd.
Establishment of CM Aroma CO., LTD., as a joint venture for the production and sale of mixed xylene.
  

Nov. 2005   Chiba plant, upgrade to 2004 version of ISO 14001.
